The Same People Over and Over Again

The same people, over and over again.

There has been and there is no monitoring of surface waters around the Splitters Creek site as per condition 7b(i) of the Planning Permit.

Work has already commenced in contravention of the VCAT decision in King vs City of Greater Bendigo. The mine begins stripping the topsoil from the site today. And the Planning Permit has been already been breached.

The dust monitoring regime instituted to determine the extent of antimony and arsenic contamination of water supplies and the presence of these heavy metals in the PEOPLE of Costerfield and surrounding areas has been compromised by these so-called regulators.

The dust monitoring equipment supposed to monitor dust from the Splitters Creek development as per VCAT requirements has not even been installed.

And the mine began to strip the topsoil away today.

More dust generating works!!

Who is letting these people - these supposed Public Servants - get away with this?

Why are these people continuing to allow the wrong thing to be done? Or nothing to be done at all?

Where is the Minister?

Yesterday Mr Colin Leask of Costerfield received the following notification from DSDBI:

Subject: MIN5567 Mandalay Resources - Splitters Creek

Hello Colin,

A Work Authority under s42 of the MRSDA was granted to Mandalay Resources this morning, following the registration of a rehabilitation bond of $748,000. This is the final approval required under the MRSDA before works under the licence and approved work plan can commence.

regards
Colin
